2009 PRE-FAIR PHOTO OPORTUNITIES
pre-Fair Photo Ops
COLUMBUS, July 25, 2009
With the 2009 Ohio State Fair setup underway, there are many pre-Fair and Opening Day photo opportunities available.
Fri., July 25 – Midway rides begin their move-in and setup process. The process will continue over the weekend until all rides are ready.
Fri., July 25 – Outdoor move-in of tents and concessionaires starts.
Fri., July 25 – Vendors move into the MarketPlace, North Commercial Building, Heritage Crafts and Antiques & Collectibles Pavilion from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. daily, with the exception of Tuesday, July 28. Hours this day are 8 a.m. – midnight.
Fri., July 25 – The Petting Zoo / Pony Rides / Pig Races will move in during the afternoon to their usual location, south of the Giant Slide.
Sat., July 25 – World Championship Mutton Bustin’ will arrive mid-morning for setup.
Mon. July 27 – An Ohio Department of Agriculture amusement ride safety inspector will be available to media for photos and interviews from 10:30 a.m. – noon.
Mon. July 27 – The Ohio Proud Kitchen will arrive at the Taste of Ohio Café at 9:30 a.m. for setup.
Tues., July 28 – Wild About Monkeys presented by PERC will begin setup east of the Cox Fine Arts Center.
Tues., July 28 – NASA Glenn’s “Journey To Tomorrow” Exhibit will arrive and set up.
Tues., July 28 – The fish for the Natural Resources Park’s Kids’ Fishing Pond arrive.
Tues., July 28 – The majority of the animals for the Natural Resources Park are scheduled to arrive between 9:30 a.m. and noon.
Tues., July 28 – The BMX Pros Bike & Board Trick Team will be arriving to set up.
Tues., July 28 – The butter cow, calf and this year’s display are revealed at noon.

The Ohio Expo Center is proud to host the Ohio State Fair. With a spectacular midway, big-name entertainment, hundreds of exhibits and one of the largest junior fair shows in the nation, the 2009 Ohio State Fair will run July 29 – Aug. 9.
Note to editor: working members of the media are asked to enter the grounds through the Media Center located on 11th Avenue, just west of the OHIO Gate. Parking is available at the trailer, as are phones, a computer line, fax machine and refreshments. Please review the on-site guidelines and if your station / publication has not already done so; please send a list of staff members who will be working the Fair to our Public Relations office.
