Aug. 7 Highlights

COLUMBUS, August 06, 2009

With competitions, entertainment, art exhibits, great food and much more, the Ohio State Fair offers a wide variety of exciting options for fairgoers. Tomorrow’s events include:



Ohio Lottery Day

In honor of The Ohio Lottery’s 35th Anniversary, each person who shows a non-winning Ohio Lottery ticket at a booth outside entrance gates will receive a $3.50 admission coupon.



Ohio Farm Bureau Day



Eric Benét with special guest Howard Hewett

AEP Ohio Concert Series

WCOL Celeste Center, 7 p.m.

Hear R&B soul singer-songwriter Eric Benét heat up the WCOL Celeste Center Stage. Special guest Howard Hewett will open the night with music from his hit CD, “If Only.”



Crafts and Demonstrations

Heritage Crafts, 10 a.m. – 9 p.m.

Visit period artisans demonstrating and selling their traditional wares.



Ohio State Fair Historical Display

Janis Center, 9 a.m. – 7 p.m.

Travel back in time when you visit the Janis Center. Take a look at the 1850, 1900 and 1950 Fair models, participate in a youth history scavenger hunt and view a rural scene made completely out of Legos. Plus, hear great performances from the All-Ohio State Fair Band & Youth Choir.



Dairy Products Building, 10 a.m. – 9 p.m.

Stop by for a milkshake, enjoy some ice cream and see the butter cow at the Dairy Products Building.



Junior Guernsey Dairy Shows

The Ohio Farm Bureau proudly supports the junior fair livestock shows

Cooper Arena, 10 a.m.

See these animals compete for best in show of the Guernsey Dairy division.



Nintendo DSi

East of Rhodes Center, 10 a.m. – 9 p.m.

Stop by the Nintendo DSi Tour and play the latest Nintendo Dsi games.



Wahl “Let It Grow” Tour

Northeast of Nationwide Donahey Ag & Hort Building

The WAHL “Let It Grow” Tour is kicking off its fourth year on the road at the Ohio State Fair! We’re looking for the nation’s best beard, mustache and goatee at our “Men of the Year” photo contest with winners in each category receiving a grand prize at the end of the tour! Step up to the mobile barbershop and get a free facial hair trim from a professional stylist as well as plenty of chances to win prizes by battling our giant hi striker and trivia challenges!



Gates are open from 9 a.m. – 10 p.m.
